NeverMiss is a list of everything happening near you, and a feed that learns which of it you actually want.
That is the whole product. The list is the hard part. The learning is what makes the list usable once it gets big.
Last Saturday there were 52 things to do within driving distance. You probably heard about two of them.
That gap is the entire reason this exists. Not a shortage of things to do. A shortage of ways to find out about them.
Most event sites are ticket sellers with a calendar attached. That is not a criticism, it is just what they are built to do. An event appears because somebody is selling admission to it and paying to list it.
So the things that show up are concerts, shows, and festivals with a promoter behind them. Good events. Also maybe a tenth of what is actually going on.
The Lincoln Historical Society is running a history passport across Addison County. Nobody sells tickets to it. Hancock Shaker Village has a geology walk on the Housatonic. The Monkey House has trivia on a Monday night with a guy named Craig Mitchell. Shelburne Museum opens early one morning a month for people who need it quieter.
None of that is on a ticketing site, because none of it has tickets. It is on a library bulletin board, a Facebook post from 2019, and a PDF somebody made in Publisher.
We go and get it anyway.
Vermont and western Massachusetts, running about ten months out.
Those numbers will be wrong by the time you read this, because the list is rebuilt every week. That is the point of saying them out loud. Most sites tell you they are comprehensive. This is what ours currently holds, and you can go count.
You do not fill out a profile.
Every event in the list is tagged underneath, in more detail than you would ever want to enter by hand. Not just "music", but the room it is in, whether it is the kind of thing you go to alone, whether it starts late, whether it is loud, whether children are there.
You react to a few events. The feed moves. Then it keeps moving, because you keep reacting. After a couple of weeks it is showing you things you would have found by accident, if you had gotten lucky, three weeks from now.
That is the part people find strange at first. You never told it you like small rooms.
This is the one we care most about.
Tell most feeds you are not interested in something and they will show it to you slightly less often. The thing never goes away, because the thing was engagement.
Say no here and it is gone. Not down-ranked. Gone.
There is no reason for us to keep showing you something you have rejected, because we are not selling your attention to anybody. The feed exists to get you out of the house on Friday. It does not exist to keep you scrolling.
An email once a week with the things that match you, not everything that happened.
A list you can search by night, by town, by whether it costs anything.
No comments section. That is deliberate. Nobody has ever been made happier by the comments under a local event listing.
Coverage is Vermont and western Massachusetts, and it is thicker in some towns than others. If your town is thin, that is a scraping problem on our end and not a quiet night in your town. We are adding venues weekly, and the ones we have are re-checked every week so that a cancelled show does not sit on the page pretending.
